“Can anybody think of a better way to start the week?”
So asked Scott Kunselman, Vice President-Engineering Chrysler Group LLC, as he hoisted the 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year Award for the all-new Ram Heavy Duty today at Chrysler Headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI.
He was met with an enthusiastic “No!” from the crowd of Chrysler employees of all stripes and disciplines.
Last week, the Ram Heavy Duty trucks got one of the automotive industries biggest hat tips in receiving the award in a very rare unanimous decision by the editors at Motor Trend. But today, it was all about thanking Chrysler employees who played a part – no matter how large or small – in making the Ram not only Truck of the Year, but a symbol of what the company can achieve even through hard times.
“This trophy that truck and everyone in the audience … are proof positive to the entire world that this corporation is on the mend and we’re serious,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO Ram Truck Brand.
Kunselman echoed those sentiments.
“I am confident that as we move forward you can do the same thing for all the great products in the lineup,” he said.
Frank Markus, Technical Director – Motor Trend, said the team of editors quote “love” the Ram and noted that it’s very unusual for the diversity of editorial opinions to agree as they did with the Ram.
“Each of you should be very proud of what you’ve done, you’ve earned it,” he said.
It's not just the employees that deserve some thanks. Ram fans also deserve some shout outs. Check out the video below as truck lovers react to the new Ram Heavy Duty.
