While the highly anticipated 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth has not even hit the showroom floors, the folks over at Hagerty classic car insurance included the new hot-hatch on their annual "Hagerty Hot List," a list of 10 new vehicles they predict to have the best future collectability.

While the list includes fun-to-drive icons, high-tech coupes and V8-powered beasts like the all-new 2012 Porsche 911, Nissan GT-R and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, the Fiat 500 Abarth defies the list sub-$100,000 future collector car list. After compiling specs of the 10 cars, the smallest, most affordable vehicle on the list – the new 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth has no problem playing with some of the industries power hitters.

*Fiat 500 Abarth is $31,536 (58.9%) less than the average “Hagerty Hot List” vehicle price

* If a person bought TWO brand new Fiat 500 Abarth hatchbacks (one to drive, one to preserve), he or she would still save $9,356 from the $53,536 average vehicle cost on Hagerty's list

* Fiat 500 Abarth is designed for track-day enthusiasts and shows it as the list's lightest contender at 2,533 lbs. – and is 1,156 lbs. (31.3%) lighter than the list's curb weight average
* 509 lbs. lighter than the second lightest vehicle, the all-new Porsche 911

*The Abarth-tuned 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine is 2.5-liters (64.2%) smaller than the list's 3.9-liter engine displacement average
* Even at its fuel-sipping 1.4-liter size, the Fiat 500 Abarth still out performs the “Hagerty Hot List” average horsepower-per-liter (114.3 vs. 109.7 respectively)

* Fiat 500 Abarth offers the most horsepower-per-liter for the money at $192.50 (Price/(Hp/L))
* The average horsepower-per-liter cost is $516.86, or $324.36 more than Fiat 500 Abarth
* $48.50 less than the second most affordable listed vehicle (Buick Regal GS)
* The Audi TT-RS may be the most powerful at 144 horsepower-per-liter, but each horsepower costs $202.29 more than Fiat 500 Abarth
