2012 Racing Season Review: Five Motorsports Champions

The year 2012 in motorsports may be remembered by Chrysler Group employees and fans as a year of champions.

Count 'em, folks. Five champs representing NASCAR Sprint Cup, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the Traxxas TORC Series (The Off Road Championship).

Along the way there were challenges to overcome and disappointments to be sure, but by season's end it was time for one and all to pause and reflect on a job well done.

The holiday season is many things to many people. Some plan family reunions. Others travel. Still others use the time to reflect and give thanks for the many gifts bestowed on them.

That's the sentiment of the professional race car drivers who competed in 2012 under the Chrysler Group banner. These tough and determined men with a single-minded focus on winning find comfort in maintaining tight family bonds while acknowledging their good fortune this year and the hope that next year will be even better.

Keselowski Crowned NASCAR Sprint Cup Champ

Penske Racing's Brad Keselowski didn't win the battle Sunday, but he did win the war.

Keselowski, 28, piloted his No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger to a 15th place finish at Homestead - Miami Speedway, plenty good enough to clinch the 2012 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Keselowski's fate was sealed when fellow title contender Jimmie Johnson pulled out of the season finale because of a parts failure. The championship is the first for the Rochester Hills, Michigan, native and for long-time NASCAR owner Roger Penske.

Keselowski on the Verge of Winning NASCAR 'Chase'

If you had to choose one word to describe Penske Racing’s Brad Keselowski, it might be consistent.

Keselowski is the driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit. This season he has entered all 35 scheduled races and has earned 23 Top 10 finishes.

If that isn’t consistent, I don’t know what is.

Seasons Change- Kes and Sam Remain Constant

As a lifelong New York Yankee fan, actor-comedian Billy Crystal doesn’t really acknowledge the seasonal change this time of year. Instead, he simply calls it “World Series weather.”
