Air Mail - Chrysler Tests All-Electric Minivan in Wind Tunnel

We had winds blowing up to 75 miles per hour in the Chrysler wind tunnel during testing of the all-electric Chrysler Town & Country minivan. These models are part of a proposed fleet of mail delivery vans for the U.S. Postal Service. Improving aerodynamics could extend vehicle range and time between recharging, and also save money by allowing for smaller batteries.
 

 

 

Chrysler Electric Vehicles at Earth Day Expo

About 50,000 people turned out for an Earth Day celebration in Rochester Hills, Mich. where they could discover environmentally-friendly alternatives in food, energy, clothing and transportation. One attraction was the future of green transportation - Chrysler's ENVI electric vehicles.

This week, Under the Pentastar highlights ENVI events for Earth Day in Washington D.C., Rochester, Mich and Detroit; workers in Dundee and Monroe, Mich., spread the word on manufacturing in America; and Detroit radio station WCSX humanizes the auto industry with a "Faces Not Numbers" banner they plan to deliver to Washington.

Earth Day Ride in Dodge Circuit EV

On Earth Day this week we went for a ride through the streets of Detroit in the Dodge Circuit EV all-electric prototype with John Myers, Manufacturing Executive for the ENVI Group. 


We zipped through the city without burning a drop of gasoline while John explained how development of electric vehicles is progressing towards the rollout next year of the first ENVI car. Journalists also got the chance to drive the Circuit EV, the first time they have had the chance to take it on public roads.
 

The Charge in the Mail

Just in time for Earth Day, Chrysler showed off four all-electric Town & Country minivan concept vehicles to the U.S. Postal Service, with the hope that mail delivery service across the country could soon be cleaner and quieter.

 

Mail delivery vehicles across the United States drive millions of miles each year, regardless of rain, sleet, gloom of night, or yappy dogs. If all those vehicles ran on electricity rather than gas, just imagine …
