Back to Work at Chrysler Jefferson North Plant in Detroit

They're back to work making Jeep Grand Cherokees and Jeep Commanders at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit today. We were there with our video camera as workers came streaming through the turnstiles at the plant for the first time since mid-April.

Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, followed quickly by the holiday season, and families will soon be spending quality time with loved ones. 

 

Quality time – like when you’re hitting the road for a 10-hour trip to Grandma’s, the kids are in the backseat pestering “are we there yet” mile after mile, the traffic ahead slows to a crawl and the snow falls heavier and heavier. Yep, quality time.

Defeating the Gremlin Theory

Few defect allegations against automakers have been more exhaustively investigated or more completely debunked than claims of sudden, unintended acceleration. 

 

Just this month (9/3/08), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) denied yet another petition to investigate reports of unintended acceleration, this time related to 2006 and 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickups. One quote from the ruling says it all:

 

" ... we [NHTSA] have been unable to determine a throttle...
