Across America people have asked why the government should help the U.S. auto industry with a bridge loan.
So we put that question to Chrysler employees. After all, we thought that in all the coverage of the bridge loans, many have forgotten about the thousands of hard-working Chrysler employees - the engineers, designers, finance staff and even bloggers - whose working future depends on help to get through this financial crisis.
On Monday, we set up the Chrysler Speaker's Corner, a camera and a chair, giving people a chance to say why America should care, and to explain their role in Chrysler's future. What a response we got. Immediately people lined up. After nearly two-and-a-half hours, and about three dozen interviews, we still had people eager to be heard. No rehearsals, no prompting for answers. It was obvious from the answers that we have a very talented, diverse and passionate workforce who are driven towards Chrysler's success. We only got one guy who said hi to his mom - everybody was very serious about this issue and wanted to share their thoughts with the public. We put their responses into two videos. But there's so much more that we hope to create some more videos later this week.
