Everyone talks about going green, but Chrysler Group has been green for years. Organic fluids and recycled Levis are just a drop in the bucket of environmentally friendly finds at Chrysler.

Take the 2013 Dodge Dart. The fact that the Aero model will achieve at least 41 mpg on the highway already puts the car among the leaders in fuel-efficiency. Besides being packed with safety features and technology, the Dodge Dart is earth friendly.

The 2013 Dodge Dart's carpets and mats are made from 100% recycled plastic, including pop and milk bottles. The trunk floor insulation material is also made from reclaimed products, including recycled blue jeans. If you look closely, you can see the little bits of jeans and other recycled clothing in the insulation. The Dart also bleeds green, but in the form of purple anti-freeze, which lasts 150,000 miles or 5 years.

The 2013 Dodge Dart and Ram 1500 feature electric power steering that does not require steering fluid, which eliminates the need to recycle the fluid after use and takes care of having to store the fluid at a plant.

You can't get much more earth-friendly than the battery-electric 2013 Fiat 500e, which is a zero-emissions vehicle. The Environmental Protection Agency has rated the 500e at 108 MPGe, which is the highest highway rating ever issued in the U.S. market. The Fiat 500e can travel about 87 miles on a single charge. The Fiat 500e arrives at FIAT Studios in California later this year.

Here are some other interesting earth-friendly facts about Chrysler Group's products:
  • The 2014 Dodge Durango will feature recycled foam in its seating.
  • The new 2014 Ram ProMaster diesel's oil-level sensor contributes to an oil-change schedule of up to 18,500 miles.
  • The Pentastar V-6 engine has a paper oil filter cartridge conducive to incineration, unlike conventional oil filter assemblies.
