Dodge Motorsports Gets New Name, New NASCAR Entry for 2013

As final preparations are made for Sunday’s Daytona 500, the Dodge and SRT (Street and Racing Technology) brands are adding to the excitement of “The Great American Race” by announcing three significant events that will impact its place in NASCAR.

First, Dodge Motorsports is getting a new name. It will now be known as SRT Motorsports, and will include all of Chrysler Group’s NASCAR racing efforts for Dodge and Ram. The engineering and marketing teams are also included under the new SRT Motorsports umbrella.

A Good Ol' Controversy

A 1969 Dodge Charger was once the star of one of network television’s most popular shows. Did you know that? The car, named the “General Lee” from The Dukes of Hazzard (1979 – 1985), was probably the most talented performer on that CBS comedy, which was set in a rural part of fictional Hazzard County, Georgia.

The Charger belonged to Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat, respectively), a couple of good ol’ boys “fightin' the system like two modern-day Robin Hoods," as mentioned in the show’s theme song, performed by country star Waylon Jennings.

Maybe she was looking for a warm place to stay for the winter or she heard about job openings for a new third crew.
